X is adding a premium paywall for live streaming, although the timing is unclear.
“Starting soon, only Premium subscribers will be able to live stream (create live video streams) on X,” the company said in a post. “This includes going live from an encoder with X integration. Upgrade to Premium to continue going live.”
This move will make X -- formerly known as Twitter -- the only social media site to charge for live streaming, which is free on TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Twitch, Engadget observes.
Users can obtain X Premium subscriptions at a rate of $3 a month for the Basic package, $8 for Premium and $16 for Premium+, PC Mag reports.
