I have no idea whether Joe Biden will pull out of the race and throw the Democratic nomination to someone else, but The New York Times sure thinks so.

Personally, I had hoped Biden might have done that a year or so ago, before the official campaign began for the 2024 election. That he would have made an elegant speech explaining how he accomplished what he needed to do -- got Trump out of office, stabilized America, recharged its economy, and well, kept the lights on -- and then announce that it was time for a new generation to take over and let the democratic process sort its way out toward a new Democratic nominee.

Obviously, that didn't happen.

And while Biden's approval ratings have remained under water ever since, the undeniable options of his debate performance have created a crises for the Democratic party. Or is it an opportunity.

Honestly, either way it does not change the choice for the 2024 presidential election, because it still comes down to a binary choice: Donald Trump vs. democracy.

If you're an American patriot who still believes in democracy -- regardless of what party you are or not affiliated with -- it's a pretty simple choice.

If Biden does cede to mounting pressure and bows out, I'll vote for whoever the Democratic party's replacement candidate is. If Biden hangs in there, I'm all-in for him. It's not about any man or woman. It's about defending and preserving the institutional norms our founding fathers enshrined in the Constitution. And all you need to do is look at what a Trump-stacked Supreme Court has done this week to know elections have consequences -- especially this one.

So while it's still too early for the Red, White & Blog Editorial Board to make any endorsements, I will say we are leaning toward one: Anybody but Trump. Heck, anything. The worm inside RFJ Jr.'s brain would even be a better choice.
