Party Like You're 80 At Taco Bell's Retirement-Inspired Experience

Taco Bell is bringing an “early retirement” to Rewards Members both young and old in its latest summer promotion.

This week the taco giant announced the launch of The Cantinas, described as “an early retirement community where everyone can live like a retiree.” The community, located in San Diego, California, will open Aug. 17-18.

Customers will be able to purchase a day or weekend pass to the community, which promises a “sun-soaked experience filled with senior-inspired recreation and cross-generational activities. From early morning tee times to afternoon aerobics and pickleball matches, attendees will feel rejuvenated and immersed in a community oasis …”

"There's a common misconception that retirement unlocks the life you've been waiting for,”  said Taylor Montgomery, U.S. CMO of Taco Bell in the announcement. “And while that may be true for some, we don't think you should have to wait until 55 to live the life you're craving. The Cantinas early retirement community, just like our brand, represents a place where all generations can come together."

The Cantinas is exclusive to Taco Bell Rewards Members ages 21+ on a first come, first served basis, with a range of options including weekend memberships with overnight accommodations to day pass reservations. Membership details, reservations, community and itinerary announcements can be found here beginning July 16.

The Weekend Membership sells for $150 and includes overnight accommodations for two, with access to all community amenities, recreation, dining and entertainment. The Day Pass goes for $50 per day and includes access for the ticket holder and a guest to the community, recreation and dining.

Additional amenities listed on the website at The Cantinas include vintage merch, arts and crafts, gaming, “retiree recreation” and culinary experiences.
