October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month, with one QSR is bringing more attention (and funds) to the disease that is expected to affect an estimated 360,000 women this year, per the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Jersey Mike’s Subs has partnered with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) on a two-day weekend fundraiser Sept. 28 and Sept. 29 to raise funds for the organization. Per the announcement, the BCRF, founded in 1993, is the largest private funder of breast cancer research in the world.
Over the course of the weekend the sub sandwich chain will donate 20% of sales at all Jersey Mike’s 3000 locations nationwide to the BCRF.
The chain is promoting the effort with a national TV spot, seen here, which depicts an anxious women receiving a text from a friend that reads “Starting chemo tomorrow.” As she pauses, having difficulty in knowing how to respond, a super reads “When a loved one has cancer, it is hard to know what to do.” A voiceover continues, as the women stares at her phone, “But you can help by supporting lifesaving research.. join us this Saturday and Sunday … Together, we can work to prevent and cure breast cancer.”
"Jersey Mike's has had a longstanding commitment to philanthropy," said BCRF President and CEO Donna McKay in the release. "We are grateful for the opportunity to raise awareness of the critical need for research and for the support of our global legion of scientists."
