Ad Addresses How Trump's Misogyny Impacts Girls

A new ad from the Lincoln Project takes Donald Trump to task for his misogynistic behavior. Nothing new there, but the ad, “Girl In the Mirror,” takes a different tack, looking at the former president’s hate-filled views on womenkind from the view of a girl trying to process those messages and the impact it likely has when she is considering her own self-worth.

The girl is shown looking into a mirror and at screens from which Trump is seen mocking Kamala Harris’s first name, the fact that she is black and even calling her a “shit vice president” who is “crazy Kamala.”

“Now imagine a different future for her,” the ad’s narrator states of the girl. “A future where a president looks like her, who sounds like her and who shows her who she can grow up to be as long as she believes in herself.”

A scene of the “Fearless Girl” statue is shown as the narrator continues to imagine the girl’s future as strong and compassionate and “unafraid to take on a bully.” At that point Harris is shown challenging Fox News’ Bret Baier during an interview when he misrepresented Trump’s “enemy within” comments with a videoclip. (He later apologized.)

“Now imagine that little girl is yours,” the ad concludes. “And your actions on November 5th will define who she sees."

“Behind every Trump supporter is a daughter, sister, mother, friend who hears his demeaning words about women and is forced to carry a heavier burden,” said Lincoln Project chief of staff Ryan Wiggins. “You wouldn’t want a man like Donald Trump within eyesight of your daughter or sister, so why would you vote for him to hold the highest office in the world.”
