Samsung's TV Plus FAST Platform Has 88M Monthly Active Users

Samsung TV Plus -- Samsung’s free-ad supported streaming television platform -- has revealed that it has a monthly active user reach of 88 million, comparable to the largest of U.S. FAST platforms, such as Pluto, Roku Channel, and Tubi.

Samsung says its FAST service is the most used app on Samsung TV sets -- and that its core U.S. based of users over-indexed in key 18-49 demographics.

Though the company did not reveal more granular viewing specifics,  it says Samsung TV Plus also over-indexes on primetime and late-night viewing in the U.S.

The most recent reading of Nielsen’s regular monthly "Total TV" and streaming viewing measurement, shows the top FAST networks are: Tubi, a 1.7% share; Roku Channel, 1.6%; and Pluto TV, 0.7%.

Samsung says Samsung TV Plus has more than 3,000 channels and tens of thousands of on-demand options, and that its growth  has been pushed by increased consumption across both linear and AVOD. Its on-demand viewing is up more than 400% year over year globally.

Samsung is the largest producer of TV sets in the U.S. (30 million TV sets) and globally (73 million). It has a 30.1% share of all TV sets sold worldwide, and around 28% the U.S.

Wow!   What a big number ... 88m Monthly Active Users!

I guess that means global.   The World Population Clock estimates that the World has 8.2 billion people.   Let's round it to 1% usage penetration.

Putting that aside ... why is the data always reported as Monthly?   The US population clock is 337m so the 88m globally equates to around one quarter of the US.   Does anyone have, say, US TV's reach in the typical month?   If you have access to that sort of data, what is the typical weekly reach or the average daily reach?

And oh ... remember that TV ratings are based on content duration, and if you only watch half a program you count as half a person.   None of this 2 seconds threshold.
