Earlier this month, German home appliances and technology company Bosch revealed it would be making its Super Bowl debut this year. This week, the company shared a teaser for the ad, a national 30-second broadcast spot, which will run during the fourth quarter.
The teaser video features the odd couple duo of actor Antonio Banderas (mostly recently in “Babygirl” and “Paddington in Peru’) and an actor portraying the late “Macho Man” Randy Savage — the former pro wrester, who died in 2011. It opens with the wrestler (in full wrestling garb) struggling to open a jar of pickles. A tuxedo-clad Banderas is able to lend a hand and unscrew the jar for the “Macho Man,’ and closes out the ad with a self-referential nod to being cast alongside the “Macho Man’ for Bosch’s Big Game ad. As the teaser suggests, the brand’s Super Bowl spot will take a lighthearted, humorous tone.

“It's a little comedy, and it's gonna go to the Super Bowl, and I suppose it's gonna make people laugh," Banderas told People. “It was fun to work with [the actor portraying the late Randy Savage] because it was required actually for these commercials to have a sense of humor, and he does, and the director did too.”
Bosch partnered with Droga5 -- which the company named as its agency of record last year -- on the Super Bowl campaign. In support of the national broadcast ad, the brand will also run a series of digital activation across its channels. Today, for example, the company published an image stylized like a movie poster featuring the Super Bowl spot’s star duo, and the line “The more you Bosch the more you feel like a Bosch” on the Bosch USA Facebook and Instagram pages.
