Two great tastes that taste great together… oh wait, that’s not Stella Artois, but it may as well be with the brand’s new Super Bowl ad. The European lager today released its Big Game :60 spot, which features soccer GOAT David Beckham and actor Matt Damon, unexpectedly playing brothers from the same mother.
The ad, titled “Dave and Dave” and seen here, opens with Beckham at a pub with his fictional parents, who break the news to him that he has another brother. The other brother, who lives in America, is hilariously named “Other Dave.” Beckham, who is Stella’s global ambassador, then goes to U.S. to find his long lost brother, which turns out to be Matt Damon (also a Stella ambassador).

As the two Daves attempt to get to know one another at a backyard BBQ, Other Dave (Damon) tries to explain the concept of American buffalo wings to the native Brit, who is confused as to why they’re called buffalo wings when they don’t contain any actual buffalo.
Beckham then realizes there is one thing that he and “Other Dave” have in common: they both like Stella. The spot ends with Other Dave kicking a soccer ball to amuse his friends, which takes off like a rocket, to Beckham’s surprise. Beckham then discloses to Other Dave that he is in fact a huge global soccer star. Other Dave asks how famous he is: “Like Matt Damon famous?" "No, more like Ben Affleck famous,” Beckham responds. “That’s too bad,” comments Other Dave as the two “brothers” walk off drinking their Stella Artois.
“Working with two of the most genuine and committed partners we could ask for, this campaign puts Stella Artois at the heart of the cultural conversation, reminding us to cherish those everyday moments of genuine connection, said Anheuser-Busch's Premium vice president Chris Jones in the release. "
The Super Bowl spot is the launch of a new yearlong campaign for Stella. The brand will continue to roll a “full surround sound national marketing effort," including television, out-of-home (OOH), digital, social, retail and more throughout 2025.The campaign will feature multiple spots throughout the year, “each building on the story of ‘David and Dave’ and showcasing their ongoing relationship together.”
The campaign was created in partnership with Artists Equity Advertising, Damon and Affleck’s production company.
