Websites Can Be Paid For 'Ethical' Use Of Data

MindStudio, a no-code AI agent builder platform, has formed a partnership with payment firm TollBit that will allow AI agent builders to pay websites directly for content and data.

This is in response to the increasing scraping of data from websites by specialized-AI agents using ethnically and legally dubious practices, the company says. It happens as websites are increasingly seeking to block or limit AI scrapers. Tollbit claims to help over 500 publishers monetize unauthorized AI scraping.

The new arrangement allows AI agents to ethically gain access to the publishing partners in ToolBit’s payment system, including Penske Media Corp. and Time, in a more reliable way than web-scraping, the firms state.

"This new partnership is a win-win for content creators and AI agents,” says Toshit Panigrahi, CEO of TollBit. “It’s a win for content creators and data providers who will be able to instantly and seamlessly monetize the millions of AI agents that feed off their content every day.”

“Our collaboration lays the groundwork for a more sustainable web ecosystem,” adds Sean Thielen, co-founder and chief technology officer of MindStudio.
