Saturn, Sprint To Sponsor New Dave Lieberman Series

Scripps Network's Foodnetwork.com in August will launch a second Web series starring chef and cookbook author Dave Lieberman.

Saturn and Sprint have so far signed on as sponsors for the new show, "Dave Does"--in which Lieberman explores food trends in different cities, local restaurants, and ordering food online. Foodnetwork.com will produce 13 five-minute episodes.

The Sprint portion of the deal, worth at least $1 million, includes pre-roll and banner ads, as well as a program that will allow viewers to receive video clips and text messages of recipe ingredients. Saturn will promote next year's car models on the "Dave Does" Webisodes.

The series comes on the heels of another 13-episode Foodnetwork Web series featuring the 26-year-old Lieberman, "Eat This," which originally debuted online last November.

Late last year, Sprint and Foodnetwork also began a program that allowed users to send recipe ingredients to their cell phones. For that initiative, Foodnetwork.com posted recipes online, accompanied by a Sprint icon. Users could then enter a phone number on the Foodnetwork Web site, and the company messaged them a list of recipe ingredients. This spring, the program generated more than 1 million page views in April alone.
