MSN and Yahoo Tuesday both upgraded their instant messaging programs. The Yahoo upgrade is a new beta version, which includes the option for developers to design "plug-ins" using an API, which can add
extra functionality to the messenger client. MSN's new messenger client is the final release of Windows Live Messenger, which was in beta testing since early May. The version includes free video
calling, an interactive gaming service, and integration with the Windows Live Network, including Windows Office Live and Windows Live Local.
