Coaches-Turned-Pitchmen Promote School Sports

  • June 23, 2006
The University of Maryland has launched an effort to sell tickets to sports events with Web video promos featuring team coaches as online spokesmen. The first video, which went live on the school's official sports site this week, features head football coach Ralph Friedgen urging visitors to buy or renew season tickets to support the program. Next on the schedule is Brenda Freese, head coach of Maryland's champion women's basketball team. Online video service Rovion, Inc. produced and integrated the spots in cooperation with CSTV.com, a network of 35 university athletic programs. -- Erik Sass
