  • August 7, 2006
Months after taking leave as head of Nielsen's local research operations to oversee the company's evaluation of local people meters, long-time local TV executive Jack Oken is stepping out of that role permanently. In a letter sent to clients on Friday, Nielsen CEO Susan Whiting announced that Oken has taken on a new, expanded role as general manager-strategic measurement initiatives, reporting to Whiting. Catherine Herkovic was named to replace Oken as general manager of Nielsen's local business operations. She was senior vice president in charge of sales and marketing for the Nielsen Station Index, Nielsen's local TV measurement service. -- Joe Mandese
