Broadband entertainment site Lycos on Monday debuted Update Hollywood, a new channel offering movie trailers, film clips and celebrity interviews. The video-on-demand site was developed by Grove
Communications and Internet TV startup PermissionTV, which supplies the back-end technology for Lycos' video programming. PermissionTV allows content companies to combine existing Web assets with
streaming video, and then add highly interactive commercials. Lycos has an ad revenue-sharing agreement with Permission TV, although no video ads are running on Update Hollywood yet until Lycos
determines what level of traffic it will draw. Lycos CEO Brian Kalinowski said the company plans to add more movie- and TV-related channels in the coming weeks.
