Online ad revenues at online newspapers of The New York Times Co. increased 27.5 percent last month compared with last year, but the newspapers' total ad revenues dropped 1.8 percent for the same
period. Web company About.com, which the Times Co. purchased last year, also had a strong July, logging 34.4 percent year-over-year ad revenue growth.
The New York Times paid online service,
TimesSelect, has grown to approximately 531,000 subscribers, but the majority (63 percent) receive the service because they pay for home delivery of the newspaper.
