Doubledown Media Names Dunning Publisher, Plans "Dealmaker" Magazine

Former Ziff Davis Media CEO Jim Dunning has been named chairman of Doubledown Media, the publisher of Trader Monthly and Traderdaily.com. In November, the company plans to launch a new magazine called Dealmaker--"a luxury lifestyle publication aimed at private-equity managers, investment bankers, venture capitalists and CEOs. Dunning handled the acquisition of Petersen Publishing in 1996 for $465 million, which he flipped two years later for $1.5 billion to U.K.-based Emap. In 2000, he teamed up with Willis Stein & Partners to buy Ziff Davis, but was replaced as CEO a year later.
