Former Ziff Davis Media CEO Jim Dunning has been named chairman of Doubledown Media, the publisher of
Trader Monthly and Traderdaily.com. In November, the company plans to launch a new magazine
called
Dealmaker--"a luxury lifestyle publication aimed at private-equity managers, investment bankers, venture capitalists and CEOs. Dunning handled the acquisition of Petersen Publishing in
1996 for $465 million, which he flipped two years later for $1.5 billion to U.K.-based Emap. In 2000, he teamed up with Willis Stein & Partners to buy Ziff Davis, but was replaced as CEO a year later.
