Second Week: Couric At Third Place

After a stunning debut week, The "CBS Evening News with Katie Couric" ran third in the overnight markets on Monday, Sept. 11. The NBC "Nightly News" ranked first with a 5.8 rating/11 share, followed by ABC "World News" (5.7/11) and the "CBS Evening News: at a 5.4/10. As anchor, Couric dipped a significant 22 percent in rating and 4 share points from last week's debut--Tuesday, Sept. 5-Friday, Sept. 8. She rose by only 1 share point from both the lead-in (4.7/9) and year-ago time period averages (4.6/9). Week-to-week, NBC was up by 14 percent in rating and 1 share point (5.1/10 to 5.8/11). ABC increased by 8 percent in rating (5.3/11 to 5.7/11).
