Denim Sings Back-to-School Blues

Women's Wear Daily reports a dismal denim back-to-school season, with soft sales at retailers like Abercrombie & Fitch, Old Navy, Express and Pacific Sunwear. Many are already drastically marking down denim merchandise. Part of the problem is slower consumer acceptance for the season's new "skinny jeans," and a glut of denim from seasons past. One exception: American Eagle, which turned in a stellar performance in both men's and women's denim.
