Catholic Channel, Metropolitan Opera Radio Debut On Sirius

Sirius Satellite Radio announced two new deals yesterday to create a Catholic Channel and a Metropolitan Opera Radio channel, respectively. The Catholic Channel will debut Sept. 26 on Sirius channel 159. The lifestyle radio channel will air nationally 24/7 and will feature contemporary talk and live daily Mass from Saint Patrick's Cathedral in New York. The Catholic Channel will feature a modern format as well as reflections on Scripture, sacred music and football and basketball games from Notre Dame. Metropolitan Opera Radio will debut Sept. 25, on channel 85, with a live broadcast of the Met's opening night gala performance of Puccini's "Madama Butterfly." It will broadcast an unprecedented number of live Metropolitan Opera performances each week throughout the Met's season, in addition to hundreds of archival performances from throughout the Met's 75-year history.
