Next on Wal-Mart's Agenda: Packaging

The Bentonville, Ark.-based behemoth announced a five-year plan to reduce its overall packaging by five percent. Wal-Mart says it will issue a packaging scorecard to its private label suppliers next year, which the store's buyers will use as a purchasing guide. Expect a ripple effect among all branded packaging. Wal-Mart made its announcement at the conclusion of the Clinton Global Initiative in New York last week.
