Research. "The CBS Evening News" with Katie Couric finished in second place with a 5.5/11 household rating and 7.6 million viewers, while ABC's "World News Tonight" posted a 5.4/11 household rating
and drew 7.5 million viewers. The numbers for the CBS newscast in its third week with Couric as anchor were off 24 percent in viewers from her debut week. NBC was up 15 percent, and ABC grew by 10
percent. CBS was also down 2 percent from last week in total viewers, while NBC was up 5 percent and ABC was up 1 percent.
