Verizon Wireless Sponsors Latin Grammy Giveaway

In its ongoing campaign to court the Hispanic market, Verizon Wireless is promoting a chance to win two tickets to the Nov. 2 Latin Grammy awards in New York. It's Verizon's third year as a sponsor of the event.

The Latin Grammy trivia challenge will run through October 20. Contestants can enter online at a Spanish-language Web site or by using their phones to text message. Spending for the effort was not disclosed.

This month, Verizon Wireless also will sponsor street parties in cities with large Hispanic populations, including Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles. The parties, showcasing Latino bands, will be co-hosted by local radio stations.

Music is the primary method used by Verizon Wireless in its Hispanic outreach. The company's V CAST multimedia mobile content platform offers video clips from Latino artists, as well as Viva! Vision TV, a Latino youth channel. Customers also can download songs by popular Latino artists from the Verizon Wireless Web site.

Verizon Wireless offers a calling plan that allows customers to make and receive calls to Mexico and Puerto Rico without incurring roaming or long distance charges.
