Fox Draws 20% Of Streaming Video Market

Fox Interactive sites, which include MySpace.com, grabbed 20% of the U.S. Internet video streaming market in August--followed by Yahoo sites at 11.8% and YouTube.com at 9.9%, according to data released Thursday by comScore Media Metrix. Rounding out the top five were Viacom Digital at 4.1% and the Time Warner Network, at 3.4%. Overall, 6.98 billion video streams were served in August in the U.S. Fox Interactive had the highest levels of consumption, with 35.5 streams per user, compared to 20.6 on Yahoo sites and 19.4 on YouTube. Meanwhile, Yahoo drew the most visitors streaming video at 39.9 million, just ahead of Fox's 39.5 million and YouTube's 35.5 million. The video streaming audience grew by 4% in August to 110.3 million, or about 64 percent of the U.S. population.
