Latina Singer Bows Magazine

Thalia magazine, the first celeb-inspired title for young Hispanic women, debuted on newsstands Thursday. The title is a joint venture between American Media Inc. (AMI), former Sony Music chairman Tommy Mottola and Latino recording artist Thalia Sodi.

"As Oprah made her magazine one of the best sellers in the industry, we feel Thalia has the same strong appeal with her very loyal fan base and is poised to become a major presence in the publishing world," said AMI chairman and chief executive officer David Pecker in a press release. "We're in a perfect position to use her visibility and popularity to enhance the unique relationship she has with her fans."

Thalia will support the launch with a series of appearances during her spring U.S. tour. The mag is AMI's third Hispanic-focused title, joining Mira and Shape En Espanol.
