In Singapore yesterday, Citibank, the largest issuer of credit cards in the world, said it would launch its Platinum Clear Card using a biometric payment system to 190,000 customers in the southeast
Asian country. While all the major banks, card issuers and retailers are exploring or have already acquired the technology, Citibank says it is the first company to offer the contactless payment
option to customers. Citibank's system uses technology belonging to Pay By Touch in San Francisco. Consumers will no longer swipe a card and sign a receipt. Instead, they will have a finger scanned
and enter a PIN. It's expected to save time.
