Larry Divney, one of the few advertising sales executives to rise to head of a major cable TV network, is retiring as president-CEO of Viacom's Comedy Central. No successor was announced but
speculation has it that Comedy might seek to bring back Doug Herzog, who ran the network during an especially ascendant period during the mid-1990s. Herzog currently is president of USA Network, which
is being merged into General Electric's NBC operations as part of its merger with Vivendi Universal Entertainment.
