David Blaine's attempt to escape from shackles while dangling five stories above a New York City Times Square side street will begin Nov. 21, two days before the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade heads
down Broadway. Technically, Blaine will hang 40 feet above the ground on West 46th Street, which is not directly in the parade's path, but close enough to steal some of the media thunder associated
with the day--especially if he is still hanging around on Nov. 23.
Blaine will be positioned like DaVinci's "Proportions of Man" drawing, and spin continuously in all directions while secured
in a giant, three-ringed gyroscope, Target announced on Friday. He is promoting the Target 2-Day Sale, which begins Nov. 24. If he escapes in time, Blaine will escort 100 children selected by The
Salvation Army on a shopping excursion.
