VNU darling Nielsen Media Research may not be completely insulated from its parent company's 10% worldwide staff reductions and pink slips could begin showing up at Nielsen's Oldsmar, Fla., data
processing center next year, reports the
St. Petersburg Times. "While VNU hasn't confirmed any cuts at Nielsen's 615,000-square-foot complex, where about 1,800 people work, it hasn't taken
Oldsmar off the table either," the paper reported. Such cuts might concern some Nielsen clients as Nielsen's data processing needs are expected to increase, not decrease over the next year, as the TV
ratings researcher begins adding new, multiple streams of TV viewing data, as well as data measuring new video platforms.
