Royal Hospitality Acquires Shoney's

Nashville-based Shoney's has been acquired by Royal Hospitality Corp., an Atlanta-based food service company whose portfolio includes 112 franchised Church's Chicken locations. Terms were not disclosed. David Davoudpour, founder and CEO of Royal Hospitality, became chairman and CEO of Shoney's effective Jan. 1. According to a press release, Shoney's headquarters will remain in Nashville. Shoney's, founded in 1949 by Alex Schoenbaum, has 230 franchised and 52 company-owned restaurants in 18 states. The family-dining chain features an all-you-can-eat buffet at breakfast, lunch and dinner, and an all-you-can eat soup, salad and vegetable buffet.
