Teen America: N Calling On Sprint

Who's that high-school pal calling on your teen's new RAZR phone? Starting today, it could be Ellie Nash, from that too-cool school, Degrassi High. Teen TV just got its latest brand extension.

The goth-garbed Nash and her post-pubescent peers on the teen-themed nighttime network The N are moving from the small screen to the smaller one, as the MTV-owned channel launches The N Mobile on the Sprint Vision and Power Vision networks.

The first teen net to launch on a wireless platform, The N Mobile offers shorts, video clips and behind-the-scenes material from several of its most popular shows, including "Degrassi: The Next Generation," "South of Nowhere" and "Beyond the Break," expanding the brand to the most popular tech necessity for today's (un)wired teens.

"This is a natural evolution of our overall multiple-platform strategy, as we continue to produce, program and distribute content on different platforms to serve our audiences," says Paul Jelinek, vice president, digital media products for MTVN Kids and Family Group.

"Teens are some of the heaviest of wireless users, and we're now able to provide them with a new way to interact with their favorite personalities and programming from the network," he adds," "further extending The N experience beyond the home." The N Mobile on Sprint costs $4.95 per month and can be downloaded online from Sprint's digital lounge.

The N, a Viacom property, airs daily from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. (EST) and is available in 52 million homes.
