Correction: Philadelphia Inquirer Plans No Further Layoffs

  • February 27, 2007
An article in the Feb. 21 edition of MediaDailyNews titled "Southern Discomfort: Atlanta Journal-Constitution Cuts Newsroom" included the following erroneous assertion: "Brian Tierney, the publisher and CEO of Inquirer owner Philadelphia Media Holdings, is rumored to have more layoffs in mind--perhaps as much as 30% of the newsroom, or about 150 people." According to Tierney, no more layoffs are planned after the 71 positions cut in January. The incorrect statement was based on earlier statements from Tierney that are now out of date.
