  • January 27, 2004
Despite heavy capital spending behind its development of the portable people meter system, as well as investments to improve its core radio research methods, Arbitron Tuesday reported that it met its fourth quarter and full year 2003 financial guidance to shareholders. Fourth quarter revenues rose 13.2 percent to $65.4 million. Full-year revenues rose 9.5 percent to $273.6 million. Separately, Arbitron President-CEO Stephen Morris announced that Arbitron and Nielsen Media Research have developed "promising new sample recruitment techniques that make it possible for us to take the first steps toward deploying a second People Meter demonstration market in the United States in 2004. As reported first by MediaDailyNews, that market will be Houston.
