NYTimes Hires New Public Editor

The New York Times has tapped its next public editor. Clark Hoyt will take the next two-year term. A Pulitzer Prize winner, Hoyt is a veteran of Knight Ridder newspapers. Previous to his appointment, he was a newsroom consultant to its new owners, McClatchy Co. The public editor is intended to critique the Times, often clashing with news staffers.
