The third season of Fox prime-time phenom "American Idol" debuted to strong ratings Monday night. According to preliminary ratings from Nielsen Media Research, the season opener drew 29 million
viewers, marking the best start of any series so far this season. Fox also generated solid ratings for the debut of new reality series "My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiancé," which attracted 19.6 million
viewers. Official ratings will be released today.
