Avis Rent A Car System is launching a new program called Avis Connect that offers broadband wireless Internet connectivity via portable units in Avis cars.

The program launches at San Francisco International Airport, and will be offered in the coming weeks at Avis airport locations in San Jose, Calif., Oakland, Calif., Los Angeles and Newark, N.J., followed in the third quarter at airport locations in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, New York, San Diego, Calif., and Seattle. The cost of the Avis Connect service is $10.95 per day.

The service enables more than one Wi-Fi-enabled devices to connect to the Internet in vehicles without cellular cards.
