Levy: Publicis An Unlikely 'White Knight' For Havas

Publicis is an unlikely "white knight" if WPP Group makes a run at French compatriot Havas, Publicis chairman Maurice Levy told a French radio broadcaster in an interview that aired Saturday. WPP chief Sir Martin Sorrell, an actual knight, has been making noises about going after Havas ever since WPP snatched Grey Global Group for $1.5 billion following a bidding duel with Havas. In the aftermath of those negotiations, French corporate raider Vincent Bollore has increased his stake in Havas, and has been known to be discussing a potential alliance with WPP's Sorrell.
