NY Times Shrinks, Saves $10 Mil. Yearly

The New York Times moved to a smaller format yesterday, cutting 1.5 inches from its width and joining The Wall Street Journal and Los Angeles Times in moving to the new newspaper standard. The good news for the Gray Lady is that it will save the paper $10 million a year. The change translates into a 10% reduction in news, but the Times says it will add extra pages to accommodate.
