About.com Offers How-To Guidance For Online Advertisers

About.com has launched onlineadvertising.about.com, a new guide site to give users an overview of the fundamentals of online advertising.

Aiming to supplement--not eclipse--the wealth of sites that provide advertising and marketing professionals with industry insights, onlineadvertising.about.com covers such topics as common metrics, the nuts and bolts of behavioral targeting, media-buying basics, mobile ads, streaming video, and even finding a job in online advertising. The site also includes a section directing users to top online advertising publications.

The site's content comes from freelance writers with diverse backgrounds, including interactive marketing and advertising professionals.

Paul Conley, who formerly held senior positions at Knight-Ridder and CNN, will serve as the site's editor.

Industry veteran Cory Treffiletti, the president and managing partner of Catalyst SF (and longtime MediaPost insider), serves as master guide, and will blog regularly.

"We're confident the industry will find it to be a vital resource in helping to more easily navigate the daily ins and outs of working in online advertising," said Scott Meyer, About.com president and CEO.

(And perhaps think of About.com when they're making their online media ad plans.)
