No Joke: Ganeless New Comedy Central Prez

After a decade and a half working for MTV and Comedy Central, Michele Ganeless has been promoted to president of Comedy Central.

In what will be her third separate stint at the network, Ganeless, who had been executive vice president and general manager of Comedy Central since 2004, will get a promotion. She continues to report to Doug Herzog, president of the MTV Networks Entertainment Group.

Ganeless had previously worked at the network as senior vice president of programming from 1996 to 2001, where she was a key player in launching "The Daily Show" and "South Park." MTV senior executives credit her as key in helping the network grow to five straight years of ratings increases.

After her second term at Comedy Central, Ganeless worked at USA Network from 2001 to 2004 as executive vice president and general manager. She also worked for Herzog when he held a top executive post at that network. There, she helped launch "Monk" and "The Dead Zone."

From 1992 to 1995, Ganeless was vice president, research and planning at MTV. Prior to that, she worked as research manager for Comedy Central from 1990 to 1992.
