Oxygen Approaches 40 Million Mark

Oxygen Media, the two-year-old cable network has reached the 39 million television household subscriber mark last week, according to Nielsen Media Research. That represents an increase of 27 million homes from the beginning of 2001 when the network reached 12 million households. Oxygen claims that contractual commitments will bring Oxygen to the 43 million household mark by the end of 2002. Oxygen launched in several key markets during the first quarter, including San Diego, California; Houston, Texas; Hampton Roads, Virginia; and Tulsa, Oklahoma as well as Boca Raton, Ft. Walton Beach, Pensacola, and West Palm Beach, Florida.
