Ex-Turner Exec To Head Comcast.net

In its efforts to diversify revenue streams and bolster its presence online, Comcast has tapped a new head in its effort to sustain a robust portal. Former Turner Sports Interactive executive Scott Bailey joins as senior vice president and general manager of Comcast.net, a site that offers news and other information, along with online dating, video gaming and e-mail options--and maybe most importantly, extensive TV listings.

The site is operated by the Comcast Interactive Media unit, which also runs the recently acquired Fandango, well-known for selling movie tickets, and an entertainment-focused site in beta known as Fancast.

Comcast says Comcast.net accounts for some 90 million video streams a month. Bailey will report to Comcast Interactive Media President Amy Banse.

Banse said Bailey's "strong track record of developing, launching and managing sites will truly be an asset as Comcast.net and CIM continue to grow."

Bailey was vice president and general manager at Turner Sports Interactive, which received attention for developing interactive functions for sites Nascar.com and PGA.com.

With Comcast executives expressing some concern that revenues from digital cable may be leveling, the company is looking for new ways to grow revenues, including online and interactive ad sales on-air.
