Golden Globes Average 20 Million Viewers

Sunday night’s Golden Globes telecast averaged a 7.7 rating/17 share among adults 18-49 and 20 million overall viewers, according to preliminary data from Nielsen Media Research. The awards program finished ahead of competition (including the AFC championship game) among women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54. The Golden Globes Awards is the fourth-highest-rated awards telecast of the past year among adults 18-49, behind the Academy Awards, the Grammy Awards and the Emmy Awards. Preliminary 18-49 averages for Sunday night are CBS, 13.1/30; NBC, 6.5/15; Fox, 2.8/6; ABC, 1.9/4. Total viewer averages for Sunday are 32.4 million CBS, 17.3 million NBC; 6.4 million Fox, and 6.1 million ABC. Official national ratings are due from Nielsen later today.
