Musical Interlude: MyNetwork TV Brings 'Control Room' Back

After weeks off the air, MyNetworkTV is bringing back a seemingly promising series that offers an array of top musical acts in concert. "Control Room Presents," originally scheduled for Mondays, is shifting to Saturdays over the next two weeks, where it will replace MNTV's mixed martial arts programming.

The hour-long "Control Room Presents," which aired three times in October to anemic ratings, returns Saturday at 9 p.m. with hip-hop star Akon. A week later, comes an episode with two acts, rockers Smashing Pumpkins and punk band Fall Out Boy.

Then, Christmas night--a Tuesday--it features a two-hour block with rising R&B star Rihanna, followed by Avril Lavigne.

The series is slated to return in January, although no details on time and date were available. The series launched on Oct. 1 with Maroon 5, followed a week later again in its slated Monday slot with John Mayer--then it aired on a Saturday with James Blunt.

Ratings in the target 18-49 demo came in at a .1, .2 and .1, respectively.

MNTV is bringing the show back despite the low ratings. After Oct. 8, a series of specials filled its Monday at 9 slot.
