IOWorld Media To Host 60 Music Channels By Year-End

  • November 30, 2007
Tampa-based IOWorld Media will have 60 music channels on its RadioIO.com online radio service by the end of 2007--more than double the stations it had just two months ago.

The new stations include a "Guitar Heroes" channel, inspired by Activision's wildly successful "Guitar Hero" game series, as well as an "Idol" channel that plays music heard in hit reality-TV series like "American Idol" and "Nashville Star."

The online media tech and services firm revamped RadioIO.com this fall, and has since increased its monthly listening audience to 1 million streams (in October). In addition to the new stations, IOWorld rolled out interactive community features.

"We anticipated that we'd see an increased audience from improving content and the user experience," says Michael Roe, IOWorld's founder. The company has set a goal of reaching two million listeners in early 2008 (based on past performance) and is moving forward with "both traditional and non-traditional" revenue streams to monetize that audience, according to Roe.
