Digital TVs Now In Half Of U.S. Homes

  • December 31, 2007
Thanks to all those fancy new flat screens from Santa, the Consumer Electronics Association says more than half of U.S. households now own a digital television.

"We have crossed a critical threshold," the association says, and it expects the pace of acceptance to continue, with an estimated 32 million units likely to ship in 2008.

According to new CEA sales projections, manufacturers will post 11% revenue growth to more than $25 billion, from sales of digital televisions in 2007. In 2008, the trade group predicts a 17% increase in unit sales growth and a 13% rise in dollar sales.
