Fox Joins With Verizon To Promote 'Terminator'

Fox and Verizon Wireless (along with producer Warner Bros.) have joined on a multiplatform promotion in advance of the network's Jan. 13 premiere of new drama "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles."

Verizon Wireless will sponsor a bus tour in a slew of large markets with a "Get Terminated" theme. Individuals will be able to board the bus and film an action scene that can be emailed or sent to a Verizon phone.

Also, subscribers to Verizon's V Cast will be able to access interactive games based on the new series, plus sneak peeks and recaps of episodes, as well as "director's takes."

The series premieres Sunday, Jan. 13, where it will get a strong lead-in from an NFL playoff game on Fox and then move to its regular time period the next night at 9 p.m.

"Partnering with Verizon Wireless enables us to align the natural synergies between a high-concept series and the capability of Verizon Wireless' cutting-edge technologies," said Jean Rossi, executive vice president, sales for Fox.

Other aspects of the marketing partnership include Verizon Wireless and Fox hosting a premiere event for the show in Hollywood this week; a microsite for the show at Fox.com sponsored by Verizon Wireless; and Verizon Wireless airing promotions during telecasts of the "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" film on Fox sister cable network FX.
