WPP Acquires Yankelovich, Folds Into Consumer Trends Unit

WPP Group, he parent of GroupM and media agencies like MindShare, Mediaedge:cia and MediaCom, this morning announced that it would merger U.S. consumer researcher Yankelovich Holdings into Henley Centre HeadlightVision, WPP's consumer trends and futures research and consulting company. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but WPP said Yankelovich had 2006 revenues of $17.8 million and gross assets of $9.4 million. WPP is known of its media and advertising agencies, but it also has emerged as one of the world's largest media and marketing research organizations.
