NBC To Cut Most Pilots

Jeff Zucker, the chief executive of NBC Universal, said Tuesday the broadcaster would save as much as $50 million a year by eliminating most pilots, reports The New York Times. Zucker said the decision was based on the writers' strike and the recession. He also noted that the big-budget pilots, which can cost $7 million an hour (up from $3 million three years ago), were no guarantee of future success.
