Clavardon: A Co-Browsing, Co-Searching E-Commerce Application

Social shopping is a form of collective searching, as online shoppers comparing merchandise together are often hunting for bargains or product info. With Clavardon, a co-browsing application for e-commerce sites, shoppers can search for products and deals with each other or one of the retailer's staff.

Sosign is the Canadian-based firm behind Clavardon, and the tool is equal parts live support solution and social shopping application. With features like co-scrolling (which allows users to control each other's page view), co-highlighting and joint form filling, the application fosters lots of interaction between shoppers.

But Clavardon also allows retail employees to be part of the process, as they can chat with and direct shoppers to particular parts of the Web site. According to Sarah Perez, a tool like Clavardon "improves upon the live support offerings that are already available to allow for a more personalized and social experience."
