quadrantOne, the new online ad portal formed by newspaper heavyweights Gannett, Hearst, Tribune Co., and New York Times Co. will not include the online editions of a couple of the publishers' flagship
properties, including
The New York Times and Gannett's
USA Today. Additionally, the National Newspaper Network, the advertising network created by the newspaper industry to sell national
advertising in local papers and their Web sites to national advertisers, said it would work closely with quadrantOne and would utilize its ad platform "when circumstances warrant and they have
inventory," said NNN President-CEO Jason Klein. He noted that quadrantOne represents just four of the 24 newspaper owners represented by the NNN.
